The Academy continues the work on building our presence on the internet.
If you have your credentials posted on LinkedIn, consider joining the NABIE group. Several NABIE members have already joined, and the group offers a venue to discuss issues or post noteworthy information. Because it is a “closed” group, material posted or exchanged can only be viewed by group members.
The closed group concept was an important criterion for the NABIE board when discussions were had concerning venues for sharing information with and among members. Keep in mind that a closed LinkedIn group has the following important features:
- Discussions and information are visible only to group members
- Search engines cannot index closed LinkedIn groups
- Closed group content cannot be shared to Twitter or Facebook
- Only LinkedIn members of the group can contribute content
You can also expect more frequent use of email “blasts” from NABIE headquarters, officers, and the board. Over the last 6 months NABIE has worked with our new webmaster to address a number of technical issues NABIE faced. Member communication via email has been the recipient of considerable effort to enhance a number of features to improve its effectiveness. With the completion of several tests and the mass emailing of the summer newsletter link, NABIE is positioned to reach every member who has an up to date email address. We will continue to try to track down members who have fallen out of touch, but keep in mind that the ability to update your information as a member is within your hands. Log in at the web site by clicking “Current Members” and entering your email address and password. If you have forgotten your password, click the link to have it sent to you.
Several positive remarks were sent along to NABIE by members receiving their first electronic version of the newsletter. The ability to offer the newsletter with color features has been a positive change associated with electronic distribution.
