Associate Member:

Those who are registered professional engineers and members of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), but do not yet have enough experience to qualify them to be accepted at another level of membership.

Correspondent:

Associates in business, usually persons having an interest in building inspection, investigation and consultation.

Student Affiliate:

Engineering undergraduate or graduate students who are student members of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).

International Affiliates:

Practicing engineers residing outside the United States of America who hold membership in recognized engineering societies of their country and whose credentials are acceptable to the NABIE Admissions Committee.

Professional:

Those who possess two years of experience as a building inspection engineer or architect and five years total of engineering experience. Must be a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE)

Executive:

Those who possess five years of experience as a building inspection engineer or architect and 10 years total of engineering experience. Must be a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).

Diplomate:

Those who possess fifteen years of experience as a building inspection engineer or architect, twenty years total of engineering experience, and certification as a Building Inspection Engineer. Must be a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). In addition, a special category, Fellow of the Academy, has been designated for those Diplomates who have distinguished themselves in the building inspection profession.  Fellows are selected through nominations to the membership committee and individually voted on by the Board of Directors.
